In markets ranging from food to pharmaceuticals, tamper-evidence is viewed as a vital tool to assure customers that the end-product is fresh, safe and secure. Many standard screw closures are available with the option of induction heat seal (IHS) liners but, in order to provide good visual tamper-evidence, UCP utilises the Vistop® ring system. This technology developed by our sister company, Astra Plastique, for mineral waters is an excellent system for pharmaceutical products providing exceptionally effective tamper-evidence for glass containers, which has long been a considerable challenge for the plastic closure manufacturer.
The tamper-evident bridges need to be strong enough to withstand cap application without damage but flexible enough to break easily on first removal. To avoid this delicate balance, a separate ring is moulded in a softer material. The additional benefit is that it can be made in a contrasting colour to provide clear visual tamper-evidence. This tamper-evident system is employed on both child resistant and standard closures. In addition to this, UCP produces a variety of standard and custom closures utilising an integrated tamper-evident feature, suitable for plastic containers.
